Diesel Generator Sets

    Generator sets are one of the keystones of electric power production. Diesel generators consist of a diesel engine as main actuator and an alternator which generates electric of desired tension and frequency.

    Generator sets are used as backup power supply (standby) or main power supply (prime) according to their intended use. Diesel generator sets are the most common used energy source around the world for backup power supply need.

Cogeneration - Trigeneration

Cogeneration;

    Cogeneration is the simultaneous generation of energy in terms of electricity and heat in the same system. Simultaneous production has more economical advantages comparing to separate generation of these two energy forms.

    Thermal energy of engine’s Jacket Water and Exhaust Output become usable in steam, hot water and / or thermal oil generation.

Trigeneration;

    Trigeneration can be defined as producing mechanical (electrical), heat and cooling energy simultaneously from one energy source. Absorption chiller that converts heat energy to cooling energy is invented by French scientist Ferdinand Carré in 1858 by using water + sulfiric acid. In 1926 Albert Einstein and his student Leó Szilárd developped it in alternative design, also known as, Einstein refrigerator and patented in 1930. Absorption chillers are used in A/C and industrial cooling widely.

    Absorption chillers consist of very few moving parts and need only heat energy. In absorption chillers, chilling principle is rely on vaporization-condensation cycle.There are 4 main heat transfer surfaces such as, evaporator, absorber, generator, and condenser. In a simple absorption chilling system, typically lithium bromide – water is used as a solution.

Solar Energy Systems

    Solar cells are devices that convert light energy directly into electrical energy. In these cells, there are semiconductors (silicon alloys and other materials). You may have seen small solar cells on calculators or some mobile phones. Larger arrays of solar cells are used to power road signs, and even larger arrays are used to power satellites in orbit around Earth. Solar cells are also called photovoltaic cells or PV devices.

    Solar panels are different to solar cells. Solar panels do not generate electricity directly. Instead they heat up water directly. A pump pushes cold water from a storage tank through pipes in the solar panel. The water is heated by heat energy from the Sun and returns to the tank. They are often located on the roofs of buildings where they can receive the most sunlight.

    There is also the Solar Thermal Power Plant. Here, a concentration of the sun's energy by many panels is used to heat up water into steam, which is then used to turn turbines to produce electricity.

    The Parabolic Trough System uses this kind of system. Here, troughs are designed to direct the sun's energy to absorber tubes as long as the sun is up. Many of these Parabolic troughs are installed to collect massive energy for the rods to heat water to turn turbines.

Socomec Control and Power Solutions

    Socomec transfer switching equipment helps you to secure your power supply by safely transferring from an unstable or lost normal source to an alternate supply. Their fast transfer guarantees a reduced blackout time together with its associated costs.

    The integration of power switching and controls in one unique product allows combining high performance with ease of installation. Discover the complete range of transfer switches, from 40 to 160A.

    What is an UPS and what it is for?

    Electrical protection nowadays has a much broader meaning than just blackouts. It also means protecting units from poor quality energy phenomena such as micro-breaks in the power supply or cause overvoltage, voltage and frequency variations harmonics and flicker.

    There are different types of UPS systems designed specifically for different power supply conditions and load requirements.
